1. There he was. Fresh-faced baby boy. Who wouldn’t fall in love with someone like that?

2. Staring at the dwindling road, she bit her lip in frustration. What to do now? With her empty stomach, wallet and gas tank, there was no way she’d be going anywhere tonight. Defeated, she made her way into the car and tried to go to sleep.

3. There was something written on the cover. Sarah could barely make it out. “Do… Do Not.. Open?” Ha! She smirked. Who wouldn’t feel the temptation of doing otherwise? Little did she know…

4. “Kyle? What are you doing with that knife? Put it down this instant!” “Go away, mother. I don’t need you talking to me right now.”

5. “What a bunch of losers,” Diane thought to herself as she walked past the geek table. She could hear some whispers coming from them. “… That’s Diane…”".. She’s practically FAMOUS…” Diane loved compliments and hey, you take what you can get, even if they came from the weirdos.

6. Looking at the treehouse he just built, Stephen stood back and gazed proudly at his accomplishment. But the most important thing was that he did it by himself.

7. “Deadlines! Deadlines! Deadlines! Argh! I can’t take this anymore!” Mark was ready to pull his hair out. Or maybe his brain, just so The Boss would not ask so much things from him anymore.

8. “This is the best day of my life!” Charlotte screamed to Esther over the loud concert music. “Thank God, I need to pee too!” shouted Esther in reply.

9. This was it. This was the final piece. The best of the best. Every single thing he had been dreaming of found their way into the piece of paper. It was going to be so good.

10. She checked her bedside clock, it read; three a.m. Why was she still awake? 

11. Lying on the floor, Shirley was panting heavily. ” Get up, lazybum! Four more rounds to go! Chop chop!” yelled her sister.

12. Pink roses? She smiled. How did he know? That was what she loved about him. She could remember the day they first laid eyes on one another. Who could forget?

    Number 10 and Number 9 are too general with too many potential story angles – not too good for an opener. Having said that, the rest are pretty good. Particularly noteworthy are Number 1 (simply lovely) and Number 8 (simply hilarious) – good work.
